A New Message from Mrs. Burris

posted Sep 30, 2018, 6:29 PM by Tonya Smith
Greetings Icard Elementary,

It has been another busy and productive week at Icard.  We began the week with our school spelling bee.  Congratulations to fourth-grader, Lanie D., for winning.  She will be representing us on Monday, October 22, at Patton High School at the county spelling bee.

Friday, September 28, students received their fundraising packets.  As I stated last week, the leadership team decided to follow the path of traditional fundraising for this year.  Icard Elementary will receive 50% profit for each coupon book sold.  Everyone is fully engaged in this process. I have sold several books and so have many of our teachers because we know that these funds will ultimately benefit our students.  I would love to see an average of 3 books per student sold.  The first round of ordered coupon books will be sent home Friday, October 5. Thank you ahead of time for your efforts to help us be successful!

I am very excited to share with you that beginning Monday, October 1, we will be adding a new bus.  The new bus number is 178, so now, we will have buses 178 and 211.  Students who have been riding the first load will arrive home at the same time but on bus 178.  The biggest time change will be with our second-load students. Second-load riders will be arriving home up to 45 minutes earlier than they previously have been.  Thank you for your patience as we have worked to make this change a reality!

Progress reports were sent home this last week.  I enjoyed reviewing each report to see how our students are doing.  We at Icard take our partnership with parents and guardians seriously to ensure our students succeed. Please make sure your student is present and prepared for class each day.  If you ever have concerns, please contact your student’s teacher or the office.

Have a great week! Please see the information on the school webpage and Facebook page concerning parents coming to school for physical education during your student’s assigned class time.
