Greetings Icard Elementary,

I hope that you have had a great weekend!  We have a very busy week ahead of us.  Monday and Tuesday, students will be participating in culminating activities that go along with the book the county has been reading, Winter According to Humphrey.  Kindergarten through second grade will studying Christmas Around the World on Monday.

Progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday.  Parents, please review these reports carefully.  Some of our students may be struggling, and we all need to be on the same page so we can address those struggles. Tuesday is also our Christmas dance after school from 3 until 4 in the gym.  Concessions will be served, so remember to send in extra money for your student so he or she can purchase items. The cost for the dance itself is $3.00 and will be collected Monday and Tuesday mornings.  If your student owes any money and has not paid those debts by Monday afternoon or contacted the office about help with those debts, he or she will not be allowed to attend the dance.

Wednesday, December 19, our first graders will be traveling to Autumn Care to share Christmas cheer!

Thursday, December 20, is a full day.  Our Christmas program will begin at 9:00 that morning. Third through fifth-grade students will be performing.  Parents are invited.  A DVD will be available.  If you are interested, please send in $4.00 to your student’s homeroom teacher.

Finally, Burke County Public Schools is currently holding parent nominations to identify students who are AIG or academically gifted. If you feel your son or daughter should be considered for AIG, please contact Dawn Chapman, Icard’s SBC by phone at 397-3491or email at dchapman@burke.k12.nc.us. The deadline to nominate your child is January 19, 2019.

Thank you, and have a great week!
